Flooding occurs every year on the north side of Lvluo (Green Radish) Mountain, bringing down a mixture of red mud and sand along with water. This gradually forms a sloped road along the water channel after some time. There used to be a stone bridge submerged in the water at this place. In the early of 1990s a new bridge was built and a pair of Chinese banyan trees was also planted, so that the local people can walk through Shuangrong Bridge and Jili Slope. They can also relax and enjoy themselves underneath the Couple’s Trees. There is a folk tale about Shuangrong Bridge: Kashyapa, the oldest follower of Buddhism, dropped two pieces of banyan tree seeds from the sky when he was passing by Shuanglang. The seeds later grew into two trees and became a couple. Since there is a 10-meter-long water pool between the two banyan trees, a stone bridge, called Shuangrong was later built. |
